Best Ever Apple Crisp

Ingredients

For the filling:

  • 5 medium apples, sliced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup or honey

For the topping:

  • 3/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup whole wheat flour or oat flour
  • 2 tbsp almond flour 
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, or almonds) 
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup 
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon 
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F 
  2. Toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, vanilla, and maple syrup. Spread evenly in an 8 x 8-inch baking dish. 
  3. In a bowl, mix oats, flours, nuts, cinnamon, and salt. Stir in the butter and maple syrup until crumbly. 
  4. Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples. 
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the topping is golden and apples are tender. 
  6. Let cool slightly before serving.
